A rant.

The title says it all at the moment. It’s not been a good weekend!

I have a Nintendo DS, and the kids use it more than I do. So much so that we’ve bought them a few games for them for Christmas. But as kids do, they start to fight over who gets to play with it and arguments ensue. So you come up with the obvious solution. By them a DS each!

Costly? Yes, but we may get a little peice and quiet round this here house which would be a nice change! So off we go to Blackburn town centre and start the hunt for 2 pink DS’s. No shop has any in stock. Not even any silver, white, blue or black or any other colour that Nintendo see fit to release! Off we go to the local retail parks (and there is a few of them) and go to Comet, Currys, PC World, Argos and any other High Street chain you can think of. Still no DS

We go across to Preston and check in Toys R US, Argos and a load of other stores, including Game.

Ah Game. We went in there and asked the spotty oik behing the counter if they had any DS’s in stock. “Yes! We have two pink ones that were just delivered in this morning! Gem and I do a little jig and nearly have sex on the floor of the shop as we’re so excited that some bugger actually has stock! “OK, we’ll have the two pink ones please” I say, and I start to get my method of payment ready.

Now here comes the good part…”We are only selling these with a bundle. £150 pounds each”

Angry. So very angry. I’m going to kill someone. They will only sell the DS’s in a bundle. Games which are quite frankly, a bit shit. Games that we have absolutly no use for. Where the hell do Game get off selling these things in bundles that people don’t actually want? But apparently they’re doing the same for Wii’s too.

Most. Pathetic. Thing. Ever. Even Amazon (resellers) are selling these things at over £130 each. The normal selling price is £99. Gready bastards…

Apparently there will be no more stock in the UK until after Christmas. Thanks Nintendo. You f*cking suck.

On another note, I’ve also been looking for an ethernet wireless bridge for my iMac so I can get it on the internets. No such look there either. I know there are USB ones, but I don’t have Airport on my iMac and the last USB jobbie I bought didn’t work.

It has not been a good weekend…

The Wii Diet. Oh dear!

February 2nd, 2007 by paul

Oh dear indeed. It’s not gone well. Not gone well at all.

It’s been two weeks since I started the diet, and I’ve only managed to actually do about a weeks-worth of exercise with it. Obviously it didn’t show any particularly great results. Except for my right arm. That seems to have grown about half an inch. And that didn’t seem worth the effort. If I had wanted another half an inch on my arms, I could have spent a whole day…well, I’ll leave that to your sick imagination!

Anyway, while Gem was watching me play Wii Sports for hours on end, she “decided” that it wasn’t going to work anyway. She then “decided” that I would be better off quitting smoking. Then she “decided” some more and suggested that I actually go on a diet. And even worse, it was then “decided” that I do some “real” excersise instead of using the Wii diet as an excuse to play on the Wii for ages and hogging the telly. Please be aware that pointing out that we have another TV upstairs she could watch Beastenders on didn’t go down too well. SOmething about me being “an ignorant, selfish something or other”.

So after all these “decisions” had been made, I’m actually on a real diet. With salad and fish and all sorts of wierd stuff. Like couscous. I didn’t even know that was a real food. I can however, tell you it’s utter crap. Alchohol has also been booted, but I managed to at least get some for the weekends (it improves my gaming skills see. Honest!). She’s even got me doing real exercises by watching one of those Australian fitness shows that they have on Sky Sports. That has made me feel a little gay. Not happy.

Ah. This short post has turned into a semi-rant, so I’ll get straight to the point. The Wii Diet is no more. It’s been “decided” that it’s a load of bollocks. And so be it. I will eventually get round to posting about something remotely technical. I got a new laptop from the insurance company. It’s a bit nice. I’ll have pictures and everything.

Tell you what, here’s a picture of Windows updating itself when I first set the laptop up. 71 sodding updates. And that was only some of them! Bloody Bill Gates…

And don’t forget about the GBS gaming night. See the post below. From your new friendly blogging sort-of non-smoker, Teh bye!
